Vogue Paris May 2011: Kate Moss

The rumors about the May cover of Vogue Paris are confirmed: Kate Moss features on Emmanuelle Alt's second issue as photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott wearing Armani Privé Spring/Summer 2011. Cover headlines announce a special look into the world of cinema just in time for Cannes. Not sure what is going on with all the hands...

Emmanuelle Alt: A Toutes Jambes

I love the kick of this editorial "A Toutes Jambes" (or in English, "As Fast as One’s Legs Can Go") styled by Emmanuelle Alt for the June/July 2009 issue of Vogue Paris. This fun and flirty frolic unfolds in front of various Parisian landmarks and plays with the classic French fashion anthem — shock the matrons. The key is to discomfit in the details and here Emmanuelle chooses to do it by calling attention to the legs with vivid tights. In her own words: "Il est temps de remettre les bas. Et les collants... Élans de fantaisie sexy et humour de résille, ils donnent le rythme, l'énergie, le pimpant, la féminité. Et ça, c'est Paris !" which translates as, "It is time to get back to the bottom. And the tights... Bursts of fancy, sexy and funny in mesh, they give the rhythm, the energy, the dapper, the femininity. And this is Paris!" Terry Richardson shot "A Toutes Jambes" which features models Natasha Poly and Anja Rubik.

Emmanuelle Alt: Girls On Film

Last October, Vogue Paris published an editorial styled by Emmanuelle Alt titled "The Party" with models Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, and Anja Rubik. While shooting the editorial, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin also made a video behind the scenes for us to enjoy. The scenes roll to the song "Girls On Film" by Duran Duran which is so perfectly suited that I must include the lyrics here.

"Girls On Film"

See them walking hand in hand across the bridge at midnight
Heads turning as the lights flashing out it's so bright
Then walk right out to the fourline track
There's a camera rolling on her back, on her back
And I sense the rhythm humming in a frenzy all the way down her spine

Girls on film, girls on film, girls on film, girls on film

Lipstick cherry all over the lens as she's falling
In miles of sharp blue water coming in where she lies
The diving man's coming up for air cause the crowd all love pulling dolly by the hair, by the hair
And she wonders how she ever got here as she goes under again

Girls on film (two minutes later), girls on film
Girls on film (got your picture), girls on film

Wider baby smiling you just made a million
Fuses pumping live heat twisting out on a wire
Take one last glimpse into the night I'm touching close I'm holding bright, holding tight
Give me shudders in a whisper take me up till I'm shooting a star

Girls on film (she's more than a lady), girls on film
Girls on film (two minutes later), girls on film
Girls on film (see you together), girls on film
Girls on film (see you later), girls on film
Girls on film (what ya doing), girls on film

Emmanuelle, Franck, And Pomme

This adorable candid snapshot of Emmanuelle Alt with her husband, Franck Durand, and their dog, Pomme, appeared recently in The Bund Weekly in Shanghai to accompany an interview with Durand. This may be the cutest photo I've seen yet of Emmanuelle, I love how they all snuggle together, so cozy yet so sexy...
