Emmanuelle Alt: Personal File

In 1997, Elle Deco photographed the home of Emmanuelle Alt and asked her to share a few of her favorites. Here is an excerpt from the delightful interview:

Who is your hero?
My father.

What do you think will be the Next Big Thing?
Tourist trips to the moon.

What do you think will be the biggest change in the way we live over the next five years?
People are going to stop eating meat and find a way to reduce pollution.

Who are your favorite designers?
Saul Bass and Mies van der Rohe.

Your favorite film?
Saturday Night Fever.

Favorite hangouts?
Home, bookshops, flea markets.

What time of day do you prefer to work?
The afternoon.

What do you have for breakfast and where?
Tea and freshly squeezed orange juice, at home.

Favorite travel destinations?
New York and London.

What's in your fridge right now?
Parmigiano, tomatoes and water.

What book are you reading now?
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.

What do you do at the weekend?
I go to the flea market, to the cinema and I swim.

Who are your favorite artists?
David Hockney and Francis Bacon.

Favorite smell?
My own.

Favorite building?
Disneyland, Paris.

Favorite set of wheels?
My red VW bug.

Which objects do you love most in your house?
My books.

Your favorite room?
My living room.

How do you chill out?
I sleep eight hours a night.

Favorite hotel?
Blakes in London.

Are these really her answers? Some seem to be very unlike her.
