Vogue Paris April 2015: Charlotte Casiraghi

From the Vogue Paris web site...

Charlotte Casiraghi trains her deep blue gaze onto Mario Testino for our cover this season, welcoming Spring in relaxed denim for our April issue, out March 25.

The most private of fashion personalities, Charlotte Casiraghi is our cover girl this issue. She has lived in the glare of the paparazzi since childhood, but the blue-eyed beauty granted us an exclusive interview and her first fashion shoot with Mario Testino back in 2011, so it was only natural for us to welcome her back to the pages of the magazine. And we hope this won't be the last time: absolutely sublime, sporty, brilliant and creative, doesn't Charlotte Casiraghi represent the ideal woman?" writes Emmanuelle Alt, editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, in her April 2015 editorial. Emerging from Winter hibernation, the Vogue Paris girls are out in force, in an issue fronted by Charlotte Casiraghi in an ode to femininity by long-time friend Mario Testino. Inside, Anja Rubik gets physical while Léa Seydoux prepares to both slip into the shoes of a Bond Girl and reprise Jeanne Moreau's Célestine in The Diary of a Chambermaid. As for the boys, Jean Paul Gaultier takes 99 questions from acerbic fashion commentator Loïc Prigent, in a clandestine fashion voyage in red and black captured away from prying eyes under the magnificent glass cupola of Printemps Haussmann. The promise of a new start for Spring.

Vogue Paris Translation: Le Point De Vue De Vogue February 2015

The Point of View of Vogue
By Emmanuelle Alt

On the occasion of its premier spring-summer 2015 issue, Vogue is getting a makeover. It is a tradition in the history of the most prestigious fashion magazines to rethink its form, to disrupt its contours to better highlight what makes its strength of character: its unique and subjective perspective on fashion, its luxurious DNA, its beauty expertise, its taste for audacity, its cultural biases, and the stars of course captured in Vogue like nowhere else...

How to define this new model? Elegance, it goes without saying, neo-classical and contemporary, edgy and timeless, feminine and tailored primarily to the temptation: to dream, to read, to shop, to be inspired. All strong traits that have always made reading Vogue a singular experience between pleasure, wonder and delight.

To christen this new model, we have chosen to get to the heart of what constitutes Vogue: fashion. Under the lens of British photographer David Sims, the highlights of the season parade on glossy paper. Black and white, sharp pants, fluidity and mini length, full-bodied lamé versus wild print, a twist of folklore and a few flashes of color... In the shaker, it makes looks like you have never seen. A big-bang style, a collision of trends which make more than one: the pace to follow.

Vogue Paris Styles Spring/Summer 2015 Collections

Vogue Paris Styles Spring/Summer 2015 Collections
By Paul Kolyer

Février Vogue Paris is a Valentine to the creativity and artistry of the Spring collections from the fashion capitols of the world. Let's see how Emmanuelle Alt, Suzanne Koller, and Joe McKenna style the runway looks, with a focus on Paris. Keeping in mind the fabulous fashion reference Vogue Paris Collections Spring/Summer 2015!

The hottest runway looks are photographed by master lensman David Sims for the Février cover feature, 88 looks! Welcome to Studio Vogue!

The quotes below are all taken from the Vogue Paris Collections Spring/Summer 2015 issue.

The avant-garde collection by Junya Watanabe is styled by Joe McKenna. "Junya Watanabe's latest creatures are part of an exuberant move back-to-the-future, a cross between past and present with a fun, radiant vibe."

A feminine Valentino styled by Suzanne Koller. "It's a collection full of luminous ideas — the perfect wardrobe for a chic, refined, modern-day Grand Tour."

Dark Alexander McQueen styled by Emmanuelle Alt. "Looking to the geisha and the samurai for inspiration, Sarah Burton chose both, inextricably interweaving them in an unsettling collection, with its mix of fetishism and extreme refinement."

Modern romance at Givenchy styled by Joe McKenna. "Riccardo Tisci's stated inspiration for his SS15 collection were Austrian Tyrol, the world of rock, a gladiator spirit coupled with a medieval overlay."

Powerful Rick Owens styled by Joe McKenna. "While the designer's work is as precise and thought-out as always, tinged with art and abstraction, there is something magically contemporary about the result — featherlight femininity that is a joy to wear."

Sassy Saint Laurent styled by Emmanuelle Alt. "It was the 70's all over again, with those ingénue floral mini dresses, in-your-face lurex, Loulou de la Falaise turbans, mannish trouser suits, vintage touches, jackets, cloaks and go-to blousons."

Couture inspiration at Dior styled by Emmanuelle Alt. "It's radiant, natural, more than contemporary, never OTT, a perfect balance between sophisticated and avant-garde."

Street chic at Chanel, styled by Emmanuelle Alt. "Before the show, Lagerfeld quoted one of his favorite slogans from the May 1968 uprising in Paris: 'It's not allowed to tell people that things are not allowed.' No rules, then. Which is exactly how Karl L. lays down the law."

A highlight for me was seeing Jean Paul Gaultier's model as Emmanuelle Alt on his runway, along with Carine, Babeth, Grace, Franca, and Suzy! JPG styled by Emmanuelle Alt. "The proceedings featured a stunning display of House DNA. A zany sense of humour, wild asymmetric pieces, a sporty ethnic mood, logos galore, and the hallmark kitsch with crisscrossing folk traditions were all invited." It was Gaultier's last ready-to-wear show.

Emmanuelle Alt styles a look from the Hermès show, the last for designer Christopher Lemaire as he will focus now on his own brand. He just unveiled his Fall 2015 menswear show and a new name and label, simply Lemaire. "At all events, although the designer is moving on, the creations in this wardrobe should be long-time companions for any woman who falls under their spell."

Graphic diva via Balmain styled by Suzanne Koller. "Made to be seen in — spidery slips, flowing trouser suits, tough-cookie pencil skirts and dresses, bold checks and stripes, transparent plastic inserts, and an electric palette."

Vogue Paris March 2015: Kate, Daria, Lara

From the Vogue Paris web site...

Kate, Lara, Daria…

Kate, Lara, Daria: three Vogue leading ladies shot by Mert & Marcus, for three red hot collector's edition covers for our March issue, out February 20.

"Lara, Daria and Kate might not have been born in France, but they each represent a vision of the archetypal French woman for this month's cover. A Frenchwoman who knows like no other, how to get what she wants when it comes to the opposite sex," writes Emmanuelle Alt, Vogue Paris editor-in-chief, in her March 2015 editorial. Buckled into a leather trench, with red nails, Basic Instinct-style silk stockings and a classic black heel, three iconic faces who have become almost inseparably linked to the Vogue Paris look raise the temperature for Mert & Marcus on the cover. A triptych in vampish black, our three collector's covers hark back to the September 2012 issue celebrating the fury of fashion's favorite color in all its forms, as it takes on a fresh graphic contrast for March 2015. Black is brought to life in the words of Etienne Daho and styled up with a boho blend of white denim, as Vogue sets the stage with the standard-bearers for the new season. This Spring, we remember Alexander McQueen, look to Jeanne Lanvin's fashion-founding spirit and celebrate game-changing Björk, the strength of Juliette Binoche and the power of Apple as the technology big-hitter prepares to conquer the world yet again with the Apple watch. Finally, our Vogue Enfants supplement this month rides the wave of neo-Seventies nostalgia, to keep our little ones on-trend and ahead of the game for Summer.
