Vogue Paris Translation: Le Point De Vue De Vogue December 2014/January 2015

On m'interroge souvent sur la Parisienne. À quoi ressemble-t-elle ? Quel est son style ? Pourquoi fascine-t-elle aux quatre coins du globe ? Est-elle brune ou blonde ? N'aime-t-elle que le noir ? Est-elle en froid avec le maquillage et tout artifice de séduction ? La liste des questions est sans fin. Je dois dire que je n'ai pas toutes les réponses, et qu'au fond c'est tant mieux. On ne déshabille pas un mystère.

Et puis on croise Ines de la Fressange et l'évidence est là : la silhouette en I vibre comme un trait de Gruau, l'allure sobre exhale une élégance innée, l'œil noisette pailleté d'or et la voix veloutée escortent un esprit irrésistible, le bon sens, le goût de la liberté et la joie de vivre. Ines doit tout savoir de la Parisienne tant elle l'incarne à merveille. Ce trésor national maîtrise sur le bout des doigts ce ‹‹chic je ne sais quoi›› made in France qu'envient toutes les femmes.

Premier top model hexagonal, visage de la Marianne tricolore comme d'un parfum mythique, femme d'affaires, miracle génétique, égérie smart et délicieusement désinvolte, mère protectrice, copine idéale, allure bluffante… C'est peu dire qu'Inès a tout. Et que nous aimerions toutes lui ressembler. Alors, Ines de la Fressange rédactrice en chef d'un Vogue de Noël, on ne pouvait rêver plus beau cadeau.

We often wonder about the Parisienne. What does she look like? What is her style? Why does she fascinate the four corners of the globe? Is she brunette or blonde? Does she love black? Is she cool with makeup and the artifice of seduction? The list of questions is endless. I must say that I do not have all the answers, and deep down this is better. One does not undress a mystery.

Then we come across Ines de la Fressange and the evidence is there: the figure in I vibrates like a stroke of Gruau, the understated look exudes an innate elegance, the hazel eyes glitter with gold, and the velvety voice escorts an irresistible spirit, common sense, the taste of freedom and joy. Ines must know everything about the Parisienne as she epitomizes her perfectly. This national treasure has mastered down pat this "chic je ne sais quoi" made in France which is the envy of all women.

The first hexagonal supermodel, the face of the tricolor Marianne as a mythical perfume, businesswoman, genetic miracle, smart muse and delightfully casual, protective mother, perfect girlfriend, baffling allure… It is an understatement to say that Ines has everything. And that we would like all to resemble her. So, Ines de la Fressange editor of the Christmas Vogue, we could not imagine a more beautiful gift.

Vogue Paris: L’Intelligence Du Bonheur

Before the Février onslaught of spring trends and pop celebrity covers, take in the palate cleansing master class in French style de la Fressange… Emmanuelle Alt gives the 57-year-old mother of two the honored invitation to guest edit the December/January issue of Vogue Paris! Perhaps Ms. Alt has taken in mind my IWTBAA article “Vogue Paris In Black, White, And Red” for the dual covers…

 

The issue is dedicated to the late great Oscar de la Renta.

Ines is the daughter of the Marquis de la Fressange and a member of the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame. This issue is packed with her personal photos, her passions, a three-page beauty spread, interview, and editorials in homage to Ines' style. Emmanuelle Alt and Davis Sims catch a quirky side of Ines in black-and-white, in "this minute"classics from Lanvin and Chanel.

Mario Sorrenti and Suzanne Koller evoke more style d'Ines with svelte Grace Hartzel. Basics like white jeans, mens’ shirts, tailored jackets, and trench coats are wardrobe workhorses everywhere.

Anastasia Barbieri and Alasdair McLellan give a nod to Ines' noble birth with "Noblesse Oblige.” Saskia de Brauw wears French style must-haves like the beret, Chanel style suit, navy overcoat, statement jewels, lace jacket, and white blouses.

Celebrity offspring are modeling everywhere and Ines' daughter Violette stars in the “Miss Vogue” layout styled by Geraldine Saglio. She looks charming in versatile cozy separates.

I look forward to photographer Giampaolo Sgura's work in Vogue Paris, his star is on the rise! His "Cadeaux" feature should have broken the internet, it was on every fashion Facebook page! Claire Dhelens and Célia Azoulay have created incredible designer dolls, complete with accessories and memorable packaging.

The envy of the month highlights the iconic Roger Vivier square toe buckle ballerines. Images of Yves come to mind, and one cannot get much chicer than that! Like he said, "Fashion fades, style is eternal." Now on to the spring 2015 collections!

A great gift this season would be Rizzoli's Louis Vuitton Fashion Photography edited by Michel Mallard. It features the editorials of Vogue Paris fashion editors through 1999 to the present. I am biased but I love their work the most! In the foreword by Martin Harrison, he states: "The photograph has to a large extent replaced the diary. If the fashion photograph is generally considered to provide a highly specialized record of society, it nonetheless addresses with some acuity our dreams and desires, as well as our appearance." I like to think this applies to Kellina de Boer's IWTBAA, IWTBAB, and IWTBAR, in that the fashion editor has stepped to the front of the camera and captured our dreams and desires with their own real life personal style. We can "have our cake and eat it too" by enjoying their photographic stylings as fashion fantasy and aspiration, and relish real life glimpses of their street and event clothes, worn with modern elegance and ease! The obsession with style never goes out of style, and what fun it is,"the icing on our cake"!
