Mario Sorrenti For Vogue Paris

Mario Sorrenti For Vogue Paris and Vogue Hommes
By Paul Kolyer

Vogue Hommes Fashion Director/Vogue Paris Fashion Editor Anastasia Barbieri styles hot French actor Louis Garrel for the Fall 2014 Vogue Hommes cover shoot. Mario Sorrenti photographs Garrel for this issue with the theme "Surrender to the fever of the night."

As stated in the Vogue Hommes Guest List page, "Every time he makes an appearance in the magazine, the experience is a memorable one. When we talked to him about Louis Garrel, Sorrenti, whose Italian origins have surely honed his taste for all things European, he agreed immediately. He was won over by the young actor"s 'New Wave' profile, uncompromising choice of films, and the plaudits for his performance in the latest film on Saint Laurent. The photo shoot in a ramshackle house in the Paris suburbs highlights Louis Garrel's magnetic, twilight beauty."

Mario Sorrenti works so well with the Vogue Paris crew, and when he teams with Emmanuelle Alt the outcome is spectacular. The Vogue Hommes Guest List page says, "Emmanuelle Alt is a regular contributor to Vogue Hommes. As Fashion Director of Vogue Paris, this willowy Parisian, with her lively wit, deftly guided the costume choices of Mario Sorrenti, whose long-time helper she is. And what does Emmanuelle Alt see a sex symbol wearing? 'Forget trendy designer labels. Jeans, a sweater or a T-shirt worn under a jacket that seems welded to you. When it's just right, when you don't see the effort, it's irresistible.'" I leave you with a few more of the self-portraits of Mario, styled by Emmanuelle Alt for the Vogue Hommes Spring/Summer 2009 issue.

Vogue Paris Translation: Le Point De Vue De Vogue November 2014

"Fresh face" radiant, so chic in her white snowflake combination, the supermodel Veruschka, photographed here by Franco Rubartelli in 1968, embodies the trends of the season. In two words: the look and the shine. This special beauty issue highlights the spectacular advance in anti-aging treatments. The new protocols act gently, are softer on the skin. So, the results are more natural and more precise. And if one tracks the glowy veneer of youth, it is also possible with simple twists of pigments or a subtle capillary variation. In fact, it is great now because anything is possible. Provided you do not do too much.

Vogue Paris: Le Bel Âge

Vogue Paris: Le Bel Âge
By Paul Kolyer

Vogue Paris has a history of featuring stunning beauties on the covers and in the editorials. Looking through copies of Vogue en beauté (1920-2007) and Vogue Paris Covers: 1920-2009 is always inspiring.

I think Carine Roitfeld's words from the foreword to Vogue Paris Covers hold true for the work of Emmanuelle Alt as well. November's cover is a great example!

Plastic surgery procedures are everywhere and openly discussed in today's beauty features. But one can never underestimate the power of great makeup and good lighting!

Fashion loves before-and-after editorials and the November issue has a beautiful selection by Suzanne Koller and Mario Sorrenti. Sorrenti has given Vogue Paris some amazing beauty shots and editorials over the years! For "Double Jeu," Koller enlists hot makeup artist Aaron de Mey.

Flashback to world-renowned fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo and his transformations in the 1982 book Scavullo Women.

Don't you love when great editors, photographers, and makeup artists capture the look of the times!

Vogue Paris December 2014/January 2015: Inès De La Fressange

From the Vogue Paris web site...

We celebrate the ultimate Parisienne this Christmas, as Inès de la Fressange graces two covers by Mert & Marcus. The Queen of Paris chic opens up about her life with a little help from friends and family in our December/January issue, out December 4.

"I'm often asked about the Parisienne. What does she look like? How does she dress? Then I bump into Inès de la Fressange and it's all there: the silhouette as slim as the stroke of René Gruau's pen, the sober style that exudes innate elegance, the deep brown gold-flecked eyes, the velvet tones that belie an irresistible spirit, the healthy dose of common sense, the taste for liberty and the joie de vivre," writes Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt in her December 2014/January 2015 editorial. Two covers and inside editorials from Mert & Marcus, David Sims and Mario Sorrenti capture the many facets of Inès de la Fressange, as the ultimate Parisienne invites Vogue Paris to a family Christmas. Inès even opens her personal photo album, with tenderly written comments by her long-time partner Denis Olivennes. Her daughter Violette d’Urso is our Miss Vogue this month and life-long friends Elie Top and Jean Paul Goude open up, in an issue built with emotion, elegance, and humor. Multitalented Inès opens her Paris address book to share her favorite places in her home city, alongside the secrets to her seemingly eternal youth, some juicy fashion stories and her hopes for Christmas and beyond. Don't know how she does it all? Nor do we, prepare to find out in an issue made-to-measure with a peerless Parisienne.

Vogue n°953, out December 4.
