This cool artist's book, Alt/Saglio: Quotes + Citations, focuses on street photographs of Vogue Paris editors Emmanuelle Alt and Géraldine Saglio pictured alongside quotations from an eclectic array of sources ranging from Bruce Willis to Albert Einstein. The Daily Front Row spoke with Wynn Dan about his artist's book Alt/Saglio: Quotes + Citations in the February 12-13 issue. Here's what he had to say...
Your book is hard to find!
"I did two runs of 100 each. To be honest, I'm a very bad businessman; I don't remember how many we sold. Over a hundred, at Colette, of Alt/Saglio."
Plans for a reedition?
"Yes, they've run out. I need to do a reprint, but I've just been so busy, so hopefully this spring or summer."
Has Emmanuelle seen the book?
"I sent it to Vogue Paris when it came out, but I didn't hear anything. And when Cathy Horyn wrote about it in The New York Times, she contacted her and as of that piece, which was the end of last year, she didn't get any comment from Emmanuelle."
Why Emmanuelle and Géraldine?
"If I could have any girlfriend I wanted in the world, I wouldn't pick a model; I would pick someone like that, because I think they're intelligent and stylish and beautiful. I work in fashion, but I'm an art director; I'm not a fashion person. I like Emmanuelle's style because it's more boyish, in a way, yet sexy at the same time."
Thoughts on her new role as EIC?
"I don't know. I think it's better. I think it will be great."
